Criminal law

When your freedom is at stake, it matters to have someone who knows your judges and speaks your language. We defend people accused of serious crimes before the Italian and Spanish courts, from the investigation through to appeal, and we handle the cases that cross the border: extradition, the European Arrest Warrant, Interpol red notices.

One defence across two legal systems

A criminal charge that touches Italy and Spain sets two different systems in motion at once. The offences differ, so do the deadlines, the safeguards, and the way evidence is gathered. Defending you well means moving through both systems without losing a day.

Riondato & Partners was founded in Padua in 1972 and now works across offices in Alicante, Elche, and Padua. We bring criminal lawyers who have argued before the courts of both countries, in English, Spanish, and Italian.

When the case calls for it, we work alongside partner lawyers elsewhere in Europe and in the United States, so the defence stays whole even when the matter moves across borders.

How we work

The first decision is almost always strategic: which country hears the case, and which law applies. That choice shapes the admissible evidence, the timing, and the outcome for years. We take it on at once, before inertia decides for you.

From there we build the defence on the merits: reading the file, technical reports, work with expert witnesses, hearings. We keep the client informed in a language they understand and explain every step, because a defence only works when the person receiving it trusts it.
